McLeod, A. M. not dead 1911
Heard Husband Was Killed; Saw Him And Shock May Be Fatal
Woman Received Telegram Announcing Death of Better Half---Alternating Emotions Serious.
Council Bluffs, Ia., July 22.---Mrs. A. M. McLeod of Junction City, Kan., is under the care of a physician at Anita, Ia., as the consequence of shocks caused by sudden grief and sorrow.
Mr. and Mrs. McLeod have been visiting at Anita and yesterday McLeod went to Des Moines in an automobile. Near that city the machine was overturned and the chauffeur was killed. McLeod is a government employed at Fort Riley. His card, found on the person of the dead man, caused the police to notify the Fort Riley authorities that McLeod had been killed, and they in turn wired the information to Mrs. McLeod at Anita.
Mrs. McLeod gave orders for the return of the body to Anita and was at the station to receive it when her husband, alive and unharmed, stepped from the train. The shocks were too much for her and she is reported to be in a serious condition.
