TIFF OVER HORSE; SON KILLS FATHER

Fires Charge of Buckshot Through Window and Fatally Wounds His Parent.

(New Tribune Special)

MINOT, N. D., Aug. 10.---Shot by his 20-year-old son through the window of his home at Max with a 10-gauge shotgun because of a dispute over the ownership of a horse, William Barasenwic died and was buried here today.

There had been "blood on the moon" in the Barasenwic home for some time past and the 20-year-old son of the dead man a week ago Sunday came to the farm home to demand a horse which he alleged was his property.

The old man refused to give him the animal and the dispute which followed resulted in the elder Barasenwic and his wife going into the farmhouse and locking the door on their offspring. Infuriated at the action of his father, the son went into the barn and procured a shotgun. Returning to the house, he shoved the barrel of the gun through one of the windows and, pointing it at the old man, pulled the trigger.

The charge of bird shot entered the old man's left foot and lacerated it terribly. After the shooting the young man disappeared and is supposed to have been in Canada. The wounded man was hurried to a doctor and the leg amputated. Loss of blood, however, weakened him to such an extent that he lived but seven days. Death occurred early yesterday morning and the funeral was held today, being attended by the widow and three children, one of whom is a five-month old babe.

A warrant for the arrest of the murderer had been issued and officers are scouring the country in an endeavor to find him.
