R. G. PACK DIES; FORESTRY EXPERT

DARIEN, Dec. 26.--Services for Randolph G. Pack, 66, of 5 Searles road, conservationist and business executive, who died here yesterday, will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Noroton Presbyterian church. The Rev. Laurence M. Horton, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be private.

Mr. Pack was president of the Charles Lathrop Pack forestry Foundation since 1937 and the American Tree association which promoted land management and conservation.

He also had been a member of the American citizens committee for the United Nations scientific conference on conservation and the utilization of resources.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, June 8, 1890, Mr. Pack attended the Pennsylvania State School of Forestry and in 1913 was graduated from Williams college, Williamstown, Mass.

He received an honorary doctor of science degree from the University of Michigan in 1953.

He became vice president of the Tall Timber Lumber company Good Pine, La., in 1913. From 1916 to 1923, he was production manager, secretary and vice president of the American Multigraph company, Cleveland.

He later held directorships in the Nebo Oil company, the Grant Oil company and the LaSalle Land company, all in Louisiana.

He also was a director of the Friends of Land and the New England Forestry Foundation.

In 1942, Mr. Pack was chairman of the American Red Cross war fund drive.

He had been executive vice president and director of the American Forestry association.

He was a member of the society of American Foresters and the Ohio Forestry association.
