Carrasco, Manuel d. 1951
Rites Pending For Aged Man
Funeral arrangements for Manuel Carrasco, 77 year old Latin-American who was found dead in the kitchen of his home at 1122 Ash St. Thursday night were incomplete Friday morning.
Carrasco, a native of Mexico had lived here since 1918.
Justice of the Peace Henry F. Long, after a coroner's investigation, said Carrasco died of strangulation after suffering a hemorrhage. He placed the time of death as "sometime after 4 p.m. Wednesday."
Police said a son, Jesse L. Carrasco, 28, of 534 Cottonwood St., found the body shortly after 7:15 p.m. Thursday.
Detective Capt. C. Z. Hallmark said there were no signs of foul play.
A neighbor, Mrs. Robert Brooks, of 1132 Ash St., told the police she heard Carrasco coughing violently Wednesday afternoon and what she though were screams.
Neighbors told police electric lights in the Carrasco home had been on since Wednesday night.
A daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Faustino Ledesma, had been living with Carrasco six months. The couple left Monday to pick cotton at Trent.
Survivors include two sons, Jesse and Manuel, Jr., both of Abilene; and five daughters, Mrs. Luz Losoya of O'Brien, Mrs. Lupe Garcia of Abilene, and Mrs. Ledesma of Trent, Mrs. Mary Briones of Galveston, and Mrs. Santos Luna of Merkel.
Kiker-Warren Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
